After a really pasionate fight AZS Czestochowa became the first Polish team with European Challenge Cup. David Murek MVP of the game.

This year the Challenge Cup final was played only in Poland. Two PlusLiga teams have qualified to the last stage of this tournament. AZS Czestochowa made the first good step during the game in Warszawa, they won 3:1. Today’s performance was full of emotions and twists.

AZS was leading 2:0 at home, but than Warszawa woke up and won the third set 25:22. It was a really good day of Grzegosz Szymanski (Warszawa) and Michal Kaminski (Czestochowa). In the next part, both teams started pretty equal, but than guests worked out with their block, get some advantage and carried it on until tie break. Players of AZS Warszawa were very determined and won tie break 15:11, so the “golden set” was on program.

The last episode of this match was truly a thriller. First, it was 6:0 (!) for AZS Warszawa, but the hosts began to catching up. When it was 11:7 for Warszawa, their libero, Damian Wojtaszek, got an injury and had to leave the court. It was the moment when all the trouble of Warszawa has begun. Both teams had their match balls, but the main arbiter also made a wrong decision and took one of the guest’s point away. Finally, after a good block over Grzegorz Szymanski, AZS Czestochowa could enjoy their success by winning golden set 18:16. MVP of this game was Dawid Murek.
