ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle – Tours VB 3:0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-18)
“We fought up to the second half of the second set” – said after the match Mauricio Paes, the head coach of Tours VB. In fact, from the first whistle the team from Poland gained a few points of advantage to allow the guests to level the score immediately. They served well (especially David Konecny, who scored 2 personal aces), played well in defence and waged quick counter-attacks. However, in the end, it was ZAKSA that turned out as a better team and with an attack of dependable Antonin Rouzier ended the set. In the second period of the match shined the Brazilian Felipe Fonteles. Thanks to his excellent game in attack and two significant blocks of Pawel Zagumny in the final part of the set, the hosts could celebrate a lead 2:0. The third set was just a demonstration of strength of the team mentored by Daniel Castellani. The key to the first victory in this year’s edition of Champions League was concentration maintained till the end of the match.

Trentino Diatec – Crvena Zvezda Beograd 3:0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20)
In the second match there was no surprise. The current World Club Champions, Trentino Diatec, beat the Serbian team without loss of a set. After a tiring tournament in Qatar, two fundamental players of Trento, Mitar Djuric and Andrea Bari, got a day off tonight. However, the team did not lose its high quality, Bari and Djuric were substituted very well by Massimo Colaci and Matteo Burgsthaler. Trento did not start well – two errors in attack of Jan Stokr – but eventually, thanks to strong attacks of Osmany Juantorena and Matey Kaziyski, the hosts were able to close the first set with a victory. Starting from the second set, the Italians stayed focused, especially in the serving area. They won the second part of the game without bigger problems. They maintained their advantage till the second half of the third set. The guests from Serbia fought really hard, but eventually it was the team coached by Radostin Stoychev that won that battle. The best performer of the match was Osmany Juantorena, who scored 21 points, including 3 personal aces.

In Pool C both Trentino and ZAKSA lead the classification with 3 points. The next round will be played from the October, 30th, to November, 1st. Crvena Zvezda Beograd will face ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Tours VB will host Trentino Diatec.
