In the fifth round of the Champions League in group D, Lube Banca Marche Macerata played with ACH Volley Ljubljana, and Generali Unterhaching measured with Euphony Asse-Lennik. Both matches ended with the result 3:1. Generali did not disappoint and won according to plan. Macerata, which played in the experimental composition, was worse than Ljubljana.

Match between Generali and Asse Lennik was not thrilling spectacle. Three of the four sets were played under the dictation of one team, the first two sets easily won Germany, but later Euphony was better and they extended fates of the match. Only fourth set pleased the fans because emotions were accompanied to the end. However, luck was on the side Unterhaching, which won 26:24. In this case, Generali also won the match.

 

Generali presented against the background of rivals slightly better in every element of volleyball. Germany better served, more effective attacked and minimally more perfectly recieved.

 

The most effective player in the team Asse Lennik was Jozef Piovarci who scored 20 times, including 4 points in the block. A very good game played Thomas Jarmoc, who attacked well, but also was a strong point in the reception.

The score of second match was a surprise. Lube Banca Marche Macerata lost first game in the Champions League. It should be borne in mind that in the composition against Ljubljana were missing players like Travica or Zaytsev. A chance to play got 18-year-old Luigi Randazzo.

 

This battle was more exciting than the game Unterhaching-Euphony. First set was terrifying, especially for fans of Ljubljana, because ACH Volley led on the second technical time out 16:10, but the set ended the result 25:23.

 

In the second set victory came much easier. The main problem in Macerata was reception. Macerata lost 13:25! Champions of Italy is not without problems won the third set, but in the end fourth set slightly better was ACH Volley, who thereby beated Macerata in fourth sets!

 

In Lube Banca Marche Macerata was not available to some of the stars of the team, such as Ivan Zaytsev, Sasa Starovic and Dragan Travica. A good game played new player in Macerata, Dick Kooy and Dragan Stankovic, who played as opposite in the absence of Starovic and Zaytsev. Both scored 16 times. A chance to play full-time got Luigi Randazzo, but 13% of the effectiveness in the attack meant that Randazzo left the court in the second set.

Uros Kovacevic and Alen Sket were the most distinguished players in Ljubljana.
