The Egyptian national volleyball team together with other African teams are preparing for the 2008 African Olympic Qualification. African Qualification will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

African Olympic Qualification will start on 1st February and finish 10th February 2008. Qualification will determine the African qualifier to the Beijing Olympic Games in China 2008.

The Egyptian coach said: “We want to complete our achievements in 2007 by winning the African vacancy in the Olympic Games after we had the African Nations Championship gold medal as well as the gold medal of All Africa Games last year. We know that we will face high quality teams like Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon and Nigeria but we are focused for this new strategy.”

Egyptian volleyball achieved good results last year including the best ever African performance in FIVB competition when they won a total of three matches in the 2007 World Cup in Japan. Egypt will participate also in the 2008 FIVB World League for the third year in a row.
