Turkey becomes first quarterfinalist after Play-Offs. Bealrus isn’t demanding opponent at all, so win 3-0 doesn’t surprise anybody.

At the beginning of the first set the team from Belarus benefit on a good working block and attack system and took on a two point lead until the first technical time-out (8-6). But it was the Turkish Team, especially Gözde Sonsirma Kirdar who went up the result at 15-12 with an outstanding balance of 70 % perfect attacks and 6 points. On the other side, the team of Viktar Hancharou acted more and more nervously and was not able to increase their performance. At the End Turkey made an unambiguous statement and ended it with a nine point lead (25-16).

It seemed that the fans saw the same game in the second set. Belarus started out very well and gained a 5-2 lead. But as the match progressed Turkey dominated in block and attack and turned the tables to 16-9. The Belarus wing spikers was stopped by the Turkish defense (67 %) and even if they found the gap, Gözde Sonsirma Kirdar took the reception (64%) and prepared the next successful attacks. Exactly this way the Team of Massimo Barbolini bounced the result to 25-13.


The way of play didn´t changed in the third set. Turkey was on the spot at the net and overpowered their opponents with an 5-2 and 16-13 lead. Belarus tried everything, but they couldn´t deal with the speed of the Turkish team and ended their short trip to Halle/Westphalia with a 17-25 defeat. Against this, Turkey qualified for the quarterfinal they will play against Russia on Wednesday at 5pm.
