Trentino did not have problems in the second quarterfinal in Valentia. Treviso has played much better then in the first duel, in spite of their better performace Macerata claimed 3:2 victory.
Macerata´s nerves are dead solid. This is what came out of game 2 in Treviso. Just like in the first encounter, Macerata started out well, with the necessary aggressiveness. Treviso did not give up and fight till the last point. It was again the match of opposites while A. Fei scored 24 points, I. Omrcen made 32 points. The MVP of the game was elected middleblocker of Macerata “Rodrigao” who blocked 7 times.
Gustavo Endres (Sisley Treviso): “We played better than in game 1, where the different characteristics of the teams could be seen. We aim on he serve and block, while their dig is a guarantee to be able to get back in any game in case they fall behind. We were very close, playing with a high rhythm. We´ll use the break to train. Who knows, maybe we could get back in the series with a few less mistakes.”
Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “It was a real battle today, but the boys did exceptionally well to stay in the game even when we made mistakes and they played superbly. We respect Treviso and its potential and that helps us to keep focused”.
Trentino made a giant step towards the semi finals by winning the second game in Vibo Valentia. Pushed by an amazing crowd, Vibo gave its hundred percent but there was little to do against the Italian champs. The incredible loss of game 1 might well have been in the mind of the Vibo players. The hosts got off to a good start, focused and aggressive. Valentia took a five-point advantage but Trento got back in game again and Vibo panicked. Then Kaziyski and Vissotto did the job, preventing Vibo to get any hopes of a comeback. Trento clinches the game 3-0 and goes 2-0 up in the series.
Jon Uriarte (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We tried to do our best, but Trento left us no chance. Hopefully, we´ll have time to be mentally and physically fine for the Trento game where we´ll try everything possible although we know this will be tough. Thanks to our fans that never stopped to support us.”
Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We definitely played better than on Thursday. We tried to improve on the things that did not go well in game 1 and we it worked just fine. Our game was flowing, we struggled only at the beginning of the first set before taking control of things.”
