Russian volleyball Superleague is over. Dynamo Kazan is the champion. Fifth match decided the finals in favor of Kazan. It is the first league title for the Kazan in the club history.
Kazan is celebrating the best result ever. Before the season Kazan changed almost all basic six players. With a huge contract came stars as a L. Ball, C. Stanley from USA national team. Kazan got also the best Russian players from Belgorod (Tetyukhin, Kosarev and Khamutskikh). In the regular season team of Kazan did not play very well, Tetyukhin started to play at the end of March. In the beginning of play-off Stanley has been injured.

Dynamo Moscow is the first finalist of Russian Superleague. Dynamo won the series with Fakel 3:1. Second finalist is Dynamo Kazan. Kazan won decisive fifth game in Odintsovo 3:1.

Dynamo Moscow did not have big problem to get to semifinals. Also Fakel claimed three convincing victories, Fakel did not lose one set in quartefinal. Dynamo Kazan even without opposite (S. Clayton) broken down Lokomotive Belgorod in three games. Iskra Odintsovo lost one game in Kaliningrad, fourth game of quarterfinal was again under their control.

Dynamo Moscow x Lokomotive-Izumrud Ekaterinburg
Lokomotiv is the only participants of playoffs which in a preliminary round overcame Dynamo. However, the chances that Lokomotiv will be able to once again win Dynamo is small. In the last round match against Ufa Canadian M. Terence twisted his ankle and in the next two weeks will not be ready to play.
Iskra Odintsovo x Dynamo-Yantar Kaliningrad
Kaliningrad won the last round match against Fakel Novy Urengoi and reserved place in play-off. Kaliningrad is novice in Superleague. Yantar took over the place of Luch Moscow. Last meeting of Kaliningrad and Iskra has been played week ago. Odintsovo won at home 3:1.
ZSK-Gazprom Surgut x Fakel Novy Urengoi
In the second round Fakel lost with Gazprom 3:1. Novy Urengoi is now in good shape, as evidenced by a recent victory in CEV Cup.
Dynamo-TatTransGaz Kazan x Lokomotive-Belogorie Belgorod
The first meeting of rivals in the pre-cup Russia won Kazan 3:0. However, recent Kazan shows volatile game. This is partly due to injuries of players. After a long treatment of Tetukhin knee in the last regular round of the championship for the first time, he went to the court. Opposite American Clayton Stanley already two games did not play because of a problem with his back.
Regular season in Russian volleyball league had only eleven games (one round) due to World Championship in Japan 2006. Dynamo Moscow won the championship in 2006.
