The semifinal series in both men’s and women’s Russian Superligas haven’t produce major surprises as most of the experts were predicting double Kazan-Moscow rivalry in the finals.

In men’s league Zenit Kazan has continued the run of good form with 3-2 win in Novosibirsk over Lokomotiv and progressed to the final, winning the series 3-0. Dinamo Moscow had much more difficulties in seeing off the challenge of Iskra Odintsovo, loosing the third game 1-3 at home but took revenge on the next day 3-0. New CEV cup owners won the series with 3 wins to 1. Starting from April 12 Russian volley fans will get an opportunity to see the best of 5 games series between Champions League champions (Zenit) and CEV cup holder (Dinamo) to decide who’s best team in Russia of 2011/2012 season.

In women’s league Dinamo Moscow and Dinamo Kazan has scored their second win 3-1 in the series against Uralochka Ekaterinburg and Omichka Omsk respectively and progressed to the decisive stage.

Both Russian finals this year are repeat of last season’s clashes. In spring of 2011 Kazan’s teams have snatched two convincing victories and they are the favorites to do the same.
