Serbia finished the World Olympic Qualification Tournament played in Japan with a 7-0 win-loss record beating in the last day the team of Venezuela in straight sets.


After Sunday’s victory the coach of Serbian team, Igor Kolakovic concluded: “We played with good concentration and good shape. It was important to finish with this victory and now we have a new opportunity in the World League. But ee have to improve our game a lot if we want to reach the medals in London”.

Serbia captain, Bojan Janic added: “I’m happy about this victory because we won all our games in this tournament and dropped only one set. We were very strong and also played today with guys who didn’t play so much before. For me, it was one of the best tournaments with the national team and I hope we continue like this in the Olympic Games”.

The second team, after the European Champions, who booked a ticket to the Olympic Games 2012 was Australia, who in the last, decisive day won over China 3-0 thanks to efficient block and serve.

Australia coach, Jon Uriarte said: “I want to congratulate my team. This team has made an amazing effort in the last few years, but specifically in the last 50 days”.

Australia captain, Igor Yudin added: “Today, as I said yesterday, was a do-or-die game again, the final show and it was up to us to perform. We were the actors and it’s an amazing feeling to come on the last day and dominate a team like that. It’s an unbelievable experience and all of us are really happy to be part of that”.

The first 3 best scorers of the tournament were: Fukuzawa Tatsuya (JPN) with 89 points, Edgar Thomas (AUS) – 106 and Zhang Chen (CHN) – 101.
