Trentino beat Treviso and won the regular season in A1. Cuneo turned around the game in Latina. Perugia came to Taranto only with bench players.

In the penultimate round in the A1, two playoffs match ups have been revealed: Trentino versus Verona and Cuneo versus Piacenza. Macerata and Monza are currently tied in the table, but Macerata has an advantage of one win. At the bottom of the table, Loreto is level with Forli, as both are fighting to stay up. Loreto will be safe if both lose without getting points. And if both have the same result, Loreto will also stay up.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – SISLEY TREVISO 3:0
Trentino couldn’t have hoped for a better last home game as it swept Treviso and secured top spot in the regular season. Thanks to this win, Trentino remained unbeaten at home in the league and became champions of the regular season for the third time.

Osmany Juantorena (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We did better than them in the crucial moments of the game, which were all in the second and third set. We won thanks to our character, and this is a lot more important than the three points we get out of it”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 2:3
In its last home game of the season, Latina forced Cuneo to the tie-break. Fortunato MVP.

Francesco Fortunato (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We are glad to finish second. Now we have to focus on the Cup because the game against Taranto will have no influence. In Europe, we’ll play with the Mikasa ball, we’ll have to train with this ball. As for the game, Latina played very well in the first two sets, but then we improved our game”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0:3
It was all easy for Macerata in Verona. The home side had already clearly set its mind on the playoffs. Martino MVP: he tallied 18 points (3 aces, 1 block and 57% in attack).

TRENKWALDER MODENA – YOGA FORLI 3:0
Modena obtained its sixth consecutive win at the expense of Forli in an intense and good-level game. Slovenian spiker Jasmin Cuturic was named MVP.

PRISMA TARANTO – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 3:1
Taranto did the job against a reshuffled team of Perugia. It improved its total tally of points compared to last season (30-28). The rhythm was the one of a friendly game, in which Cleber (25 points) and Moretti (18) made the decision.

Antonio Bongiovanni (Prisma Taranto): "This is a terrible victory. In a way, I didn’t want it. Considering all the effort I put in it, I don’t think I deserve such poor performance. I am appalled and I applaud Perugia: a group of young players that gave a lesson of humbleness to some athletes on holiday. Sport is about making the effort, not just taking money”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA 1:3
Vibo’s home season ended with a 3-1 loss against Monza. The home side had a good game, but Monza was ready to respond physically and mentally.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3:1
Loreto reached its target: it got the three points it needed and caught up Forli, third from bottom in the league. The blocks (20) made the difference for Moretti’s team, as Shumov was named MVP. Loreto and Forli will play for their lives in the A1 in the last game of the season, respectively in Macerata and at home against Vibo Valentia.
