L. Vissotto destroyed Macerata and Trento won the first semifinal duel in three sets. In second semifinal Cuneo lost one set with Treviso.
ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3:0
The first semi-final game between Trento and Macerata went to the World Champions. Deservedly so. Vissotto was outstanding and named MVP (18 points with 68% in attack) but Sala, Birarelli and especially Zygadlo also played extremely well. Macerata, which had Vermiglio not hundred percent fit, could not keep up more than a set.
Lukasz Zygadlo (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We initially struggled to find our rhythm, maybe because of the 18 days without an official game, maybe because of the emotion. But then we loosened up and things got easier. When the team plays at this level, it’s nice to be the setter, you can feel great confidence on court”.
BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – SISLEY TREVISO 3:1
Cuneo strikes first in its series against Treviso. The games between those two teams are traditionally top-level encounters and once again it was the case, for the joy of the 4500 crowd. Wijsmsans and co did a great job of fighting back after Treviso had taken the first set. MVP: setter Nikola Grbic. Top scorer: Nikolov with 18 points.
Nikola Grbic (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We knew this game was the first of a tough series. We did well to play with conviction, working hard to get this result. We did well to get back in the game and fight all the time, always ready for the next play”.
