After finishing the tournament of the Russian Cup, Vladimir Alekno announced his decision – he quits the job as a head coach of the national team.
Alekno says that he has made up his mind a long time ago, he just needed to wait until the appropriate time will come. After his Dinamo Kazan was defeated in Russian Cup, the announcement was made.
“When I was thinking about it, my only motivation was my own opinion. Not my family, not my friends – just how I felt. I decided to finish my work with Russian national team for health reasons. I am not strong enough to go through these tones of emotions and stress that always are there with this kind of challenge. Now I’d like to focus on my job here in the club.” -Vladimir Alekno said.
Alekno has been working for Russian team for two years and his greatest success is of course the gold medal of the Olympics 2012 in London.
Now we need to wait for a new names on this position, but for sure, another coach will have a big shoes to fill after the exceptional work of Vladimir Alekno.
