Jastrzebski Wegiel eliminated Skra Belchatow and Delecta Bydgoszcz beat AZS Warszawa on the way to semifinals of Polish Cup 2013.

 

 

Asseco Resovia Rzeszow gained the advance to the next round the fastest way possible. They won twice with Effector Kielce, both games have been finished in 3 sets. Also Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle was a favourite of their duel. They met with the team representing of the second league, Czarni Radom. Those matches were played day after day and Radom managed to take one set from the leader of PlusLiga.

On the other side, everyone was expecting a great battle between Skra Belchatow and Jastrzebski Wegiel. Skra won Polish Cup last year, but Jastrzebie seems to have some kind of patent for beating vice-champion during this season. By now they defeated Skra in all 4 games. Two of them were in the Polish Cup. First victory: Jastrzebski beat their rival after a long performance 3:2. Skra was already on the lead 2:1, but then, guest showed a true power by ending another part 25:13. Tie break made them one step closer to their goal, which was completed a couple days later in Jastrzebie. This time, with the result 3:0 Lorenzo Bernardi’s team made sure they are coming to Czestochowa to play for the trophy.

Also the fight between Delecta Bydgoszcz and AZS Warszawa was quite interesting. First, Delecta lost at home 1:3 after fascinating finish of the third and fourth set. The hosts had two chances for keeping this game a little longer, but they could not make a use out of their setballs. Instead, fantastic Pawel Adamajtis brougth it to the end and the game finished with the result 34:32 (!) for AZS.
The second game, Delecta Bydgoszcz just destroyed their rivals with two sets 25:16 and the third one 25:21. With Marcin Wika and Dawid Konarski they won more sets in total and managed to secure their entrance into the semifinals of Polish Cup 2013.
