Italian player is speaking about his Polish club, his feelings about volleyball and about how he met this sport.
Let’s begin with Jastrzebski Wegiel – what do you think about this club?
The team of Jastrzebski Wegiel is a very good collective with a lot of good luck. I like the city I live in. I would love to stay here for another season.
Which game of PlusLiga will you remember for years?
I think it might be the first match of semi-finals with Zaksa. We were doing brilliantly and we won this game. That’s when I thought “cool, we are going to be in finals!”, but the time verified my attitude. Zaksa turned out to be very difficult to beat.
Before this season you said you’re hoping to return to the national team. Do you think it is going to happen?
I don’t know, really. I honestly made up my mind and I just want to play on the beach, this is were I belong.
You also said that is more interesting to play in the foreign country… You still think that?
About Poland – yes, of course. It’s a nice place, but I don’t really like your pizza (smile). It’s a good place for volleyball. However, I have to admit, here is much more peaceful and calm, compared to Italy. At 10 p.m. everyone is already at home, nothing is going on on the streets. I think it has to do with weather – another thing I really don’t appreciate. It’s very cold here.
Your transfer to Poland was called a hit. You have great skills and predispositions. Why haven’t we seen it all in this last season?
It’s simple – I did not want to show it.
When I was a child, my parents took me to the volleyball school. It was the beginning of my adventure with this discipline. I didn’t really have any influence of who I became. For me, volleyball is just a job, not a hobby or pleasure. I’m not perfectly happy about it. That’s why I prefer stay out of the court, be on the reserve bench. In addition, I don’t really come along with a few players and it also affects my game.
You have friends in Polish team?
No, I don’t. As I’ve mentioned – this is just a job. I don’t think about playmates like “oh, that one is cool, he plays awesome”. No. For me this is all shit. I don’t like the fact I have to see some faces every day. All my friends are in Italy.
Some people say you are rather a difficult person to deal with. Is that true?
No, no (smile)! That’s not true. That is the opinion of those who know me only from the court. I usually don’t show a lot of emotions, but I don’t need it either. I don’t like training, I don’t like seeing some people, so I sit on the bench. I know… I’m crazy (smile).
