The 18-year-old German is the next hero under the heading of young and talented competitors.

Karlitzek started the season as an outside attacker, but later, mainly due to the departure of the Israeli Itamar Stein, switched to opposite in his first professional year at VSG Coburg/Grub. He was also one of the stars at the U21 World Championship qualifiers in Zwolle, the Netherlands. The highest scorer for Germany, Moritz Karlitzek, playing as opposite, helped the junior Bundesteam prevail over the likes of Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Croatia and will have the honour to compete in Mexico in September.

Despite his tender age and unobtrusive height, Coburg/Grub’s opposite has already impressed on several occasions in the Bundesliga. His 30 points (2 aces, 57% in attack) for the home defeat to Luneburg at the end of January did not go unnoticed. A versatile and easily convertible player, Karlitzek has the potential to be among Germany’s senior national team call-ups in a few years.
