After two days of Club World Championships in Doha, Al Arabi and Trentino BetClic are leading in their groups. Belchatow did not have easy game with Paykan.
Pool A
Al-Alhy – Al-Arabi Doha 1:3 (17:25, 27:25, 17:25, 20:25)
The host of this tournament were much better than their rivals. The team of Al-Alhy only in the second set was able to catch Al Arabi and after tough finish they won 27:25. Hosts made better job in service (10:5), block (10:5) and also attack (52:44). Both Al-Alhy and Al-Arabi made a lot of mistakes, but the team from Doha had well-playing Christian Pampel and he gave a huge help to his colleagues.
PGE Skra Belchatow – Paykan Teheran 3:2 (24:26, 25:21, 25:22, 20:25, 15:12)
Polish champions had to fight with their own weaknesses and with strongly offensive game of Paykan. It was long and emotional match, but both teams made together 67 mistakes! Players from Teheran showed their strength by the quality of middle blockers. Skra was blocked 11 times, and Paykan only 7. Skra won thanks to their technical skills, but this final result could be much different, if Iranians did not made so many mistakes.
Pool B
Paul Mitchell- Drean Bolivar 1:3 (25:23, 25:27, 19:25, 21:25)
First set of this match was aligned from the beginning to the end. Finally, two bad actions of Bolivar gave the victory to Americans. Also in the second part, mistakes of Argentinian team could deprive them of victory, but finally, one block decided about the result. Two next sets were less emotional. Drean Bolivar was scoring a few points more and this lead was maintained until the end. The best scorer of this game was Federico Pereyra with 24 points.
Trentino BetClic – Dynamo Moscov 3:0 (25:21, 25:23, 27:25)
As the previous matches, this one almost was not devoid of huge number of mistakes. Althought Trentino and Dynamo started with the strongest squads, Italian team (which defends the last year title) was playing better in the ends of the particular sets. Statistic of this match are almost identical for both of teams, what can be seen in the set’s results. Dynamo had worse service. The best players were Jan Stokr (16 points) and Matey Kazijski (15 points). “There is not much to say, they were simply stronger tonight” – Sergey Grankin said on the press conference.
