The transfer saga of Cristian Savani has ended. Captain of Squadra Azzurra, tempted by ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Turkish, Russian and Italian teams decided to take a different, much more exotic direction.
Cristian Savani in Serie A1 plays since 2001. In the Italian league his debut was in team from Montichiari from which went for two years to Itas Diatec Trentino. Lately, he’s worn the T-shirts of M. Roma Volley and RPA-LuigiBacchi Perugia and in 2010 he signed a cotract with Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata. But when the biancorossi’s managment acquired Bartosz Kurek, Savani had to start looking for a new employer. At the beggining he had an offer from Dynamo Moscow and later from ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Resovia Rzeszów, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce Istanbul, Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo and Andreoli Latina. It was almost sure that Sava will choose the offer one of the last two clubs and stay at homeland for another year.
After all, Savani surprised us all and choose Chinese direction. His new club will be Fudan University Shanghai, which, in recent years, has dominated the Chinese league, nine times in a row winning the national title. Last season, the phenomenal streak of team from Shanghai was interrupted by Beijing Motors in which in next season will play Wout Wijsmans and David Lee.
