Yesterday we have published the first part of the interview with Dr.Davarzani- the president of Iran Volleyball Federation. Today we continue with his thoughts on volleyball in Iran.

It got it very important. So translated it to English. But translation does not mean that I have full agreement with all the views. In some of those I have also my personal opinion.

Q-We have this ascending route and missile growth in volleyball, why such progress doesn’t happen in other sport disciplines, especially in Football?
A-Comparison of different sport disciplines is not suitable action, because any field has its own special condition. But we have one principal, for achieving a goal we should notice do we have potential, talent and facilities. According to my knowledge over the general situation in the country, I believe that there is capability in many sport disciplines. By choosing a defined strategy, we can step up to the champion podiums in Asia; even we could stay among the best teams of the world. Youngsters of Iran with their physical and mentally talent have very good condition. I am to this belief that by existed capacity we have a lot of words to talk in the world’s sportive circles. It is natural that obstacles and difficulties are on the way, but we as directors have duty to remove these obstacles and change potential capacities into actual potentials.
Q-What is the most important calamity in the course of progress?
A-Paying into the verge affairs creates forgetful form of the main tasks, which is calamity that prevents us from achieving our goals.
When the volume of margin activities of any federation becomes more than the main tasks, difficulty shows face, managers are obliged to put more time to resolving those margins. In this situation not only synergy comes across but also more obstacles appear.
I think that in the sport of the country there is this capability to attain higher goals with empathy, solidarity and close collaboration of a sport organization with the government. Solely for volleyball there is no possibility of attaining its goals- without assistance of all governmental organizations, the sport ministry and the National Olympic Committee we cannot reach what we want. In some federations this matter has turned to a big challenge, it is not along with national benefits. Walking towards in unity and empathy is our need.
Q-Recently you have made a decision, the youth boys ‘national team has combined with a club team. The new team is going to participate in the club competitions of the Super League. Do you think there would be success?
A-For some years we wanted to test this idea. Capabilities of our youth team was good till now, recently the team even without giving a single set to all its rivals and got the champion title (2014 Asian youth Championship-Colombo, Sri Lanka).
The players of this team are the future makera of Iran volleyball and they possess high capability, so we wanted them to enter into professional cycle. Expectations from Iran volleyball are high, we are in urgent need of providing back-up. On the other hand next year we have the World youth championship here in Tehran as the host country. So we could not have any interfere with these players and let them individually to join any club team and get less use from their work and play. So we decided the youth players in frame of a club team to enter the Super League to get more experience. By playing versus different teams, they would get more familiarity with atmosphere of the championship.They would also preserve their readiness.
By this action Iran youth volleyball team would pass the progress route with speed. The experience of league matches would give them solid experience, so they will perform easy games in the World championship. With situation of these players we are determined to repeat what happened in 2007.We are thinking of achieving the champion title. We have expectation from all clubs to comprehend the situation and prefer the national benefits over their club benefits.
Q- In which extent after the recent success the interest of people has been increased towards volleyball?
A- View and opinion of the supreme leader of Iran regarding the sport championship was very beautiful. In this description, sport championship is similar to a peak, all walk from mountain slope towards the peak.Our success ininternational gatherings is a peak; for other athletes and those who are in the margin and suburbs it creates motivation. When a discipline brings feeling of pride and glory to the society, it turns to a social symbol and stays in attention of all Iranian. It could be motivation for the young generation.
Volleyball of Iran gave exhilaration to the society and to the young generation. Our sport attracted attention of general people and public opinion towards itself. They allocate a part of their mind to this discipline. When the families want to choose a sport subject for their children, they have an eye on volleyball. During the last year, social interest towards volleyball increased by 9- 10 times. This is very good but it brings heavy burden for us; we should provide suitable space to be able to manage the situation.
