After the last leg of the Champions League main phase, sixteen teams made it to the 1/8 Finals. Date of 1/8 finals is set to February 11 and February 18.



All favorites of the event succeeded in walking through the first round, with Italy and Russia still featuring three teams in full contention for this years Champions League. Macerata, Kazan, Piacenza, Trentino, Thessaloniki and Odintsovo are the favourites of their 1/8 final duels. Dynamo will not have easy road to next round, Belchatow is a very dangerous opponent. Friedrichshafen has advantage of playing second match at home. German champion lost only with Odintsovo in front of home public.

According to the Official Regulations the CEV issued for the competition, teams coming from the same preliminary Pool will not face each other in the 1/8 Finals and the first ranked teams in the Main Phase will be granted, as far as possible, a certain advantage in the drawing. Moreover, the DOL will be carried out with a procedure avoiding that more than 2 teams coming from the same country will compete in the Final Four which is already set to be staged in Prague next April 4-5, 2009.
