2018/19 Superliga in Russia has been an exciting one, that sees the dominant Dinamo Moscow reach the National Championship finals for a 15thstraight season. They are the top seeds as expected and are always a popular selection for punters on sites like bettingsites.ng. The semi-final clash saw them face off against Uralochka-NTMK Sverdlovsk region, who were the tournaments number four seeds. They won via straight sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-20), which meant they closed the series with a 2-1 success. The side from the Russian capitol now head into the finals as the three time consecutive winners, so will again start as the favourites.

In the finals they will face off against the second seeded side, Lokomotiv Kaliningrad region, who put in a dominant display to defeat the third seeds Dinamo Kazan. This now sets up for a fascinating contest between the two leading sides.

Dinamo Moscow was created in 1926 before being re-established in 2004, following a 12 year break. This has now seen them climb to the top of the sport, in which they are now the most successful team in Soviet Women’s Volleyball history. This is due to the fact they have fourteen Championship titles to date. The Russian Women’s Volleyball Super league was founded in 1991, and they are now the dominant side in the competition, following the vast early success of Uralochka Yekaterinburg. As mentioned they have won the previous three finals, and have six titles in their history, with the first coming back in the 2005/06 season. This saw them defeat Zarechie Odintsovo in the finals.

There opponents in the finals will be Lokomotiv Kaliningrad region. They are top division rookies, but have been one of the rising forces this season. This was shown in their straight sets victory in the semi-finals, and they now rate very strong contenders to topple the favourites Dinamo Moscow in the finals. This side was only created in April 2018, but with the view to bring very experienced players through. This is in order to win medals, so they could then look to qualify for the Champions league. Their success is already showing with their progression to the upcoming finals, and big things are expected for them in the coming seasons.
