- One-Man Pass
This may not sound like much, but this is critical to enhance a player’s agility, stamina, technique and posture. To do this, a ball and a little space is all that you need. Then, stand in a passing position and then throw the ball up into the air. All you need to do is to pass the ball as it comes back down every time, and prevent it from hitting the ground. - Vertical Setting
There is no better a solo drill than vertical sets when its all about set control for the day. There is a number of ways you can do this, even when you lay down. Just give it a go while you lay down with your knees bent. Make sure your hands are about 7 inches over your head, and the put the ball in a set position by making a triangle shape with your forefingers and your thumb. Then, throw the ball continuously and keep it steady without having to move at all. If you are able to set the ball about 50 times without moving an inch, congratulations, you mastered the drill.

There is more to it than just vertical set and one-man passes. You also need to think about ankle mobility and coordination. You also need to consider a few training drills to help your body better communicate with your mind so that you can hit with precision and here is how you do it.
You need rock solid ankles to be a great Volleyballer and you can get there by moving your heels up and down continuously at a stationary position. This will condition your ankles so that you they have better health, more strength and seamless ankle mobility.
To really challenger yourself, try walking on your heels or toes around the house. It will do a number on your ankles but you will see how strong and flexible your ankles become. The more you do it, the better it is for your ankles
You can also consider doing ankle jumps. This sounds terrifying but its actually very easy. You just have to jump up while you are on your toes, then stretch you toes upwards. Before you begin to land, stretch them back to the position it was before your jumped. You should land on your toes again. A set of 2-3 with 25 repetitions every day will sort your ankles perfectly.
The Secret to Coordination
You can go miles ahead when you continuously practice vertical setting, passing or spiking the ball against a wall or a fellow teammate. You can do this randomly, but if you focus on building a continuous rhythm with the ball, such as going from a set, to a bump and then to a spike, your coordination will skyrocket. The faster you can do this the better your coordination gets.
Any sport requires practice routines and training drills. You need to be able to train your body with your mind for better strikes, but building a continuous rhythm for all training drills without failing is how you slowly become the main valuable player.
