Dominican Republic NT achieved first victory in their country in WGP, winning with Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-14 26-24 25-21). In previous match Serbia beat Czech Republic 3-0 (28-26 25-18 25-23).
Match between Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico although wasn’t long was entertaining, except first set. Both teams scored by spike in similar amounts. Difference made block (16 Dominicana – 4 Puerto Rico). 4 Dominican players had over 10 points: OH and captain Bethania De La Cruz (16 points, best scorer), experienced MB Annerys Vargas (13), MB Candida Arias (11, including 6 blocks) and OH Prisilla Rivera (11 including 5 blocks). Puertorican team had two leaders: Karina Ocasio (OH, 14 points) and captain Yarimar Rosa (OPP/OH, 12 points). Other teammates didn’t support them enough and there were many substitutions in match line-up.
In second match in Pool B Serbia was better than Czech Republic. Despite few set balls for Czech, Serbia turned over first set. Similar interesting game was in last set, after 23-23 main Serbian scorers won the set and a match. Best Serbian scorers again were OH Brankica Mihajlovic (22 points) and OPP Jovana Brakocevic (19). From Czech Republic good game again had Michaela Mlejnkova (OH, 15 points and 68% spike) and she few years ago had 17 birthday. 15 points also got Aneta Havlickova (OPP), but it was her bad game (only 28% spike). Even worse was Andrea Kossanyiova (OH, only 3 points and 19% spike).
