Only two weeks ago it would seem that Iran would fall into the abyss of titans like Russia. But no! With a negative record of 0-4, Iran turned the situation in their favor from a mental point of view after smashing the USA team last weekend. This weekend Iran are going to keep on with the hunting of Poland, so I do not hesitate we will see Iran in a good position by Sunday night. Both teams (Iran & Poland) at this moment are in a live or die position.
On the other hand, the USA will try to come back as they are facing a wounded Russia Team ( who actually have a 0-8 negative record in FIVB World League 2015). I suppose that Russia will not achieve a victory no matter the fact that they are in their “own house” unless the Americans have been left out of gas.
Another big show for volleyball fans are the clashes between Serbia and Italy – teams that are playing very well and in their first two meetings on the court this year divided honors by 1-3 for Serbia (25-22, 23-25, 24-26, 23-25) and 3-2 for Italy (25-14, 19-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-12).
Brazilians have called my attention because even with rotations each weekend, with an alternative squad they are maintaining the first position of its group. I am just wondering if this is going to be for their good for the final phase and if it will lead them to good results..
In group 2 there are no changes. France and Canada are still ruling their pools followed by Bulgaria (Host of the finals) & Holland with a bit of breathing space.
This weekend’s matches, as I see them won’t be very significant except Bulgaria vs. Cuba and Argentina vs. Canada.
Group 3 – Montenegro will face China and Slovakia (Host) will play vs. Egypt but not this weekend. The official date is to be on Saturday 4th of July.
Predictions: Serbia vs Italy (1-1), Iran vs Serbia in Tehran (Hm, hard place to win, 2-0 Iran). There should not be any big surprises in the other matches. The top teams will maintain their path of success.
