The Pakistan Volleyball Federation has invited India for the Asia Central Zone Championship, hosted in Pakistan later in May this year. The PVF head Chaudhary Mohammad confirmed that Pakistan has extended the invitation to the Indian volleyball team and they’re expected to be part of this highly awaited tournament.

Uzbekistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan will also take part in the volleyball tournament and there’s a huge possibility that Pakistan and India will elevate the level of competition in this championship event. Speaking to the press, the PVF chairman said they invited India since they’re part of the central zone. India is expected to hold the federation’s elections this February and the PVF chairman is confident they will send their squad for the tournament.

The PVF chairman took part in the Central Asian Volleyball Association hosted in Hong Kong, discussing matters related to improving the relationship between different volleyball federations across Central Asia. Chairman Chaudhary also revealed that six teams will arrive in Pakistan on 9th May and the final match in the tournament will be held on 17th May. Regarding the volleyball training camp, chairman Chaudhary said it will be hosted several weeks ahead of the Asian Central Zone Championship. Additionally, the chairman revealed that Engro’s volleyball team will be participating in the Asian Club Championship in Iran.

In 2023, Pakistan’s volleyball team performed incredibly well and finished fifth during the Asian Games after beating India 3-0. Displaying a dominant stance throughout their game against India, Pakistan emerged triumphant after recording 25-21, 25-20, and 25-23, bagging three sets unanswered. The game lasted for an hour and 14 minutes, leaving India in Sixth place.

The Asian Games were a mixed campaign for the Pakistan volleyball men’s team, who topped their pool after beating Cambodia and South Korea. This exceptional performance propelled many Pakistan Volleyballers, helping them get contracts from International volleyball leagues.
