You won the Italian Cup for the first time in the history of the club. Is the joy even greater for this reason?
Hristo Zlatanov: – Yes, eleven years we were trying to win the Coppa Italia and by the eleven years we have always failed. Success came this year. This victory against Sir Safety Perugia is extremely important for me, but not only for me, because also for the entire management, the rest of the players. Of course, we are extremely happy that we finally were able to win this trophy! But it’s not over, we have to continue hard work because we still fight for the championship. We would like to win the scudetto, it’s very important for us.
On Saturday you’ve made a first important step – for the first time in eight years got into the final. Were the emotions so big that it was hard for you to fall asleep?
– No, definitely not! (laughs) I am thirty seven years old so even emotions don’t make it I have a problem with falling asleep. Perhaps other, younger players because of these emotions more stimulated but we knew it was not the end, that in the final we can go one step further and reach the historical, huge success.
How do you feel? Is everything right with the your ankle?
– No, unfortunately not. Because of this injury I had ten days break. There was a small chance that I will play in the final, but we’ve decided that I had to come to full form and I can’t even risk. Now I have another ten days of lighter trainings, then we make next test and doctors decide whether I’ll be ready to play.
Returning to the game, you played it close to perfection. Sir Safety didn’t present so good which, I think, was a surprise for everyone.
– It’s true, we expected a much heavier game. But I think that it’s very difficult to play against us when we show up like in this game – we played really sensational. All the time we have been putting pressure on our opponents and it’s not easy to play when your opponent pushes you. I think that we have won this match deservedly, showing ours strength. It’s only our victory.
