Italian coach Andrea Anastasi has said he wants his team to be among the best in this year’s World League and World Championship after he named his 2010 squad.
The Italian coach said he believed that a core group of experienced players can help them repeat their past success in world Volleyball.
“There are important players in the team like Fei and Mastrangelo,” said Anastasi. “We want to became an important team this season. Relative to last year, we have some new players, some regular players and two important veterans in Alessandro Fei and Luigi Mastrangelo.”
Italy begins their FIVB World League, which runs from June 4 – July 25, against Serbia, France and China in Pool B for a place in the final round. They will also host the FIVB World Championship from September 24 – October 10, playing Japan, Egypt and Iran, and will hope that the home support will help steer them to victory.
