Champions League for Trentino

Trentino is celebrating victory in Champions League. In the final match Italian Champion Trentino defeated Greek champion Thessaloniki 3:1.

Trento met the Greek team of Iraklis in the Champions League final. Iraklis had the better of the Russians from Odintsovo in the semis while Trento went through thanks to a sweep against Macerata in the Italian derby.

The final game was full of great actions. First set was very soon captured by Trentino by 25:12. In the second set Thessaloniki made the most of their service and won the set. The begining of the third and fourth sets were under Trentino´s control but Iraklis always managed to come to the tight end. Unfortunately the last points of the sets belonged to Trento. The end of match was in the hands of M. Kaziyski who made two aces and terminated the game. The stars of italian championship M. Kaziyski with L. Vissoto has been the key players of the game. 

O2 Arena saw fantastic volleyball from the both sides. Greek champion played even game with the italian champion for the last three sets. Trentino won its first European trophy. Not bad for a debut in the competition! Trentino is living a very exciting time, and probably the most important moment in the club’s history. Just 11 months after celebrating the league title, Stoytchev’s boys added a new successful story to the club’s 10 years of competition.
