The victory in volleyball Champions League 2007, the best European Cup, celebrates VfB Friedrichshafen. German team won the final 3:1 against Tours VB. After 43 years German team can rejoice at title in Champions League.
Friedrichshafen managed great season in volleyball Champions League, team of S. Moculescu deserves the title. Germans won their Champions League group, beating Sisley Treviso in play-off, in semifinal upseting Macerata. Team of Friedrichshafen, with young players, was not afraid in final showing all elements of modern volleyball. Opposite Jochen Schöps killed all the important balls, due to his attacks and serves German team won.
The first day of the Moscow Final Four showed the unpredictability of today's European volleyball. Favourites of semifinals Macerata and Moscow lost their matches.
Macerata does not have good season. Ivan Miljkovic (captain of Macerata): “I’m sad not only as a player but also as captain of the team because we didn’t succeed in winning the IECL nor in reaching the playoffs of the Italian Cup.”
For Dinamo Moscow it is second consecutive year, the strongest team in Russia is not playing well in Final Four of Champions League. Head coach of Dinamo Moscow Vladimir Alekno said: “There’s not much we can say. It’s a typical case of sport. We just have to get over that.”
